Fun Summer Games to Play With Your Dog

School is out, families are taking vacations, and people have more time to spend with each other and their pets. Summer is the best time to treat your dog to fun games outside! If you need some ideas on which games to play with your dog, check out our list below.

Frisbee

It's the perfect weather to take your dog to the park and throw a frisbee around. Your dog will love the chase and jumping up in the air to catch it. Make sure you have an ample open space to use so you won't interfere with other dog owners playing with their pets.

Fetch

Speaking of fetch, you can always use a ball or a similar toy to throw and have your dog retrieve. Fetch games also build a solid bond between you and your pet. This game never gets old, and dogs love the challenge for their muscles and brain.

Hide and Seek

Dogs have a child-like nature to their activities, so feel free to bring that out of your dog with some hide and seek! You can do this inside the house if done safely or outside where there are trees and other barriers to hide behind. This is an excellent way to bond since you could have some fun like you did as a kid!

Dog Safe Bubbles

Like frisbees and fetch toys, dogs love chasing bubbles in the air. You can purchase some dog-safe bubbles, or make some at home with this recipe. 

Tug of War

Dogs love a good challenge like tug of war. Tug of war is good for your dog's teeth and muscles and helps them get a good workout while maintaining control. You can use dog ropes or any durable chew toy they can grab onto and pull. 

Water Games

Dogs also have to keep cool during the hot weather. If you're already filling the kids' kiddie pool, then let your dog splash around, too! Depending on your dog's comfortability, you can also take them to the beach or a lake to swim.
