Celebrating the Holidays With TLDOM

It’s such a fun time of year, and we wanted to share some staff experiences and how they celebrate the holidays with their pets. Meet Abby, a Pet Care Specialist for TLDOM. She is a true animal lover and has a variety of pets in her family.

1.     How many pets do you have? What Kind?

A - I have two dogs, a guinea pig, and a horse!

2.     What holiday will you be celebrating this season?

A - I’ll be celebrating Christmas.

3.     What are some holiday traditions that you’ve developed to include your pet?

A - My favorite tradition with my dogs is taking them to see Christmas lights! They get so excited.

4.     What safety/preparation tips have you learned over the years?

A - A lot of family come over for the holidays, and one of my dogs gets overwhelmed with a lot of people, so we make sure he is in a separate room until he gets used to the noise.

5.     Do you usually take your dog/pet with you to view Christmas lights? If so, how do they respond?

A - My family takes our dogs to see the lights every year. They really like the lights that change colors. It’s super adorable watching them looking at the lights.

6.     Have you done a themed family portrait to include your pet? What has been your favorite theme?

A - My family has never done a theme.

7.     Do you travel with your pet over the holidays? What are some things you do to prepare them for that?

A - Family comes to our house, so to prepare my dogs, we have them in my room while the family gets settled in. My dog gets a little nervous when many people walk into the house at once, so once he gets used to the louder noise, he calms down and joins us.

It’s all about family. Here at TLDOM, we heavily emphasize our pets being a part of our family and including them in special traditions. Don’t forget to take safety precautions when bringing your pets around lights and be in tune with their signs of discomfort or anxiety. We hope that you enjoy this holiday season with all your loved ones. May it be full of love, laughter, and new traditions.

Happy Holidays,TLDOM community!
